The Water's Edge

It was Monday evening and the sky wasn't overly promising, so I headed out for a recce.

My plan was to scout Portcoon for potential compositions that I could revisit later in the week; but as I started taking a few test shots I quickly realised that the sun was beginning to shine through a gap in the clouds!

The light must have lasted all but 3 minutes so I didn't have time to play around with compositions or shutter speeds, I just had to shoot! Luckily I managed to find an interesting foreground and came home with a photo.

The following evening I revisited this location to try and improve on what I'd already taken, but the swell was far too intense so I retreated to the cliffs up above. On this occasion, the light was much more dramatic — I just wish I had been able to shoot my original composition again!
