Silent Hill

Between poor weather and the nights getting shorter it has become difficult to find opportunities for photography. But Saturday morning I finally got my first break (sort of!).

My travels took me to Cave Hill with the aim of capturing some beautiful side lighting and a perhaps a hint of mist, but when I arrived the mist that was forecast became full blown fog! For ages I hung around hoping for conditions to improve but unfortunately they stayed the same the entire morning.

Then it occurred to me... Perhaps the fog could be an opportunity to capture something different? So I walked around looking for a composition. My plan was to find a lonely tree or a strong leading line — and as luck would have it, I found the latter!

I love how the fence in this image leads you into the never ending fog. It feels like something straight out of movie set.
