A Near Miss

It's been a while since my last sunrise — too long if you ask me! So last weekend I decided I was going to put an end to this.

My travels took me to Kinbane head, a location I've been looking to photograph for some time now. Unfortunately, the morning quickly became a rather hectic one; as I spent most of my time running around looking for a composition I was happy with. It didn't take long for the sun to start poking it's head above the horizon and seemed as if all hope was lost, until finally I found the shot — cue the speedy unpacking of my gear and tripod! As icing on the cake I decided to shoot a long exposure of the cliffs that run along the coastline here as well.

My final shot in this collection is from the Giants Causeway at sunset. For a change I thought I'd shoot perpendicular to the setting sun, rather than focusing on the sunset itself. It was nice to do something different but I have a feeling I will be going back to my usual, dramatic shots.

If you haven't visited the North Antrim coast this summer yet I'd encourage you to do so. It's definitely the best place for a day out this time of the year.
