Fairies and Folklore

It's truly amazing the places you can find in Northern Ireland when you put your mind to it. After getting home from work on Monday evening I decided the weather was too good to miss, so with that I went somewhere new. My travels took me to Newry where I found a nature reserve known as Hawthorn Hill at Slieve Guillion Forest Park.

Within the nature reserve is a trail known as The Giant's Lair which is designed to be a magical living storybook brought to life through intertwined fairy houses and arts features. The walk is inspired by legend and mythical folklore in the woods of Slieve Gullion Forest Park, and the effort that has been delivered to present this is truly phenomenal.

There is so much to see here and the pictures only show half of it. If you have  young ones, or just want to experience something magical I would definitely encourage you to go here.

On my way home I couldn't help but notice the sun was casting the most glorious colours across the sky, and although I wasn't in a position to capture a good photo of the sunset I thought I would still make the trip to a nearby viewpoint and snap a panorama of the surrounding countryside.
